8065 Taper Lock Bushings

Taper-Lock bushings, also known as tapered sprockets, have an 8-degree taper, making the through-hole length less than flanged bushings. These bushings are held in place by blind hexagon socket head cap screws, which are tightened to secure the bushings in their bearing or component holes. Tapered locking bushings are commonly used in left-aligned hub designs, which allow the shaft to be mounted close to the bearing while maintaining a small load center. Unlike flanged bushings, this design also eliminates high overhang loads.
Tapered lock bushings are an important part of transmissions and mechanical transmission components. These bushings are used to secure the hub to the shaft for faster, easier, and more accurate assembly. These bushings are designed to accommodate a variety of shaft diameters, including thicker and thinner sprockets and shafts. They are also very flexible and can be used in a variety of applications.
Always check the outside and inside diameters of both components before using a tapered locking bushing. Over-tightening the bushing can damage it or cause it to overheat. Also, flat washers do not provide the same protection as split washers, so always use split washers when installing bushings. The torque required to install the bushing is specified by a torque wrench. If you use a torque wrench, be sure to apply the correct torque or you may cause the bushing to fail.
